The BS 25999 Business Continuity Management family consists of part 1 - code of practice and part 2 - specification. Certification to the standard is against BS 25999-2 Specification. There are several UKAS accredited bodies providing certification to this standard.

The standard provides a framework for effective business continuity management including:

• Identifying potential risks and impacts to the organisation,
• Developing a continuity strategy,
• Linking disaster recovery procedures with continuity plans,
• Testing the continuity plans and continually improving the system
